It’s no secret that I am a newbie sewer and quite a novice in most crafting fields except knitting and scrapbooking.  During this 31DBB Challenge I am seeing so many things I’d like to make because they are either a)beautiful/awesome/gorgeous/fun/etc. or b) something that would teach me more about a particular craft.

As part of my challenge I am supposed to write a link post, so I am going to start a link list, if you will.  Here I am going to keep track of other fabulous projects I see from other amazing bloggers so that when I find myself twiddling my thumbs (yeah, rrrrriiiight) I can just come back here and find something to do.  Maybe you’ll see something you haven’t seen, or discover a new blogger to love and stalk/follow.

Drum roll, please….

The Pleated Poppy

Lindsey Cheney makes some gorgeous things.  I’ve already made something from her tutorials, the crayon roll.   You can see my post about them here.  The next thing I’m making is a Family Rules canvas- this will be coming soon- I can’t wait!

(update: I made it!  Did you see my post?  If not, click here!)

My sister, Stephanie, just sent me a link to this blog, and I love it.  I was particularly interested in making the cooler for the kids’ car seats– what a cool idea, and also a great way to just get some sewing experience.

I found out about Noodlehead from my friend Kari, who is a fellow sewer (I have actually spent human time with Kari- such a rarity in the blog world).   I also find it hilarious that Anna has a daughter named Natalie, and my name is Natalie and I have a daughter named Anna. Very cool. Anyway, Anna makes such beautiful things.  I specifically want to make her Li’l Cutie Pouch so that I can learn about sewing with zippers.

I also want to make Anna’s Gathered Clutch, which has a tutorial here.  I’m scared, but I will do it.

Sew Much Ado

I can’t wait to make this hat for Jack.  He hates hats right now, so there’s no point, but someday I will make this hat and he will wear it and look adorable.  Maybe I’ll even make him a tie to match.  Little boys in hats and ties make me want to tell people who think ‘girls’ clothes are so much cuter than boys’ they don’t know what they are talking about.   🙂

Pink Penguin

I just saw this tutorial linked from another blog and can’t wait to find a reason to make this basket.  I love it!

That’s it for now.  I have a ton of ideas for other things I want to invent on my own, but those remain to be seen, as I’m too timid to dive into that yet.  I keep a dry erase board up in my office/sewing room so that if an idea comes to me I can write it down and remember it down the road.

Chica and Jo

This is hilarious and adorable.  I may have to make one for my husband someday.

    Hey Nat,

I love the tutorials you have picked out! I have been thinking about making that cute little bag from noodlehead as well but I need to work on my basic sewing skills first…

    Thanks for sharing!
